Issue: # 16 September/October 2009
Sara and Eric MillerHappy fall to all!

The leaves are just starting to change and we are looking ahead at the rest of the year with excitement and optimism (our first born is due Oct. 4th). We are happy to announce that in August we have officially moved into our newly renovated teaching space in our home office in Sara and Eric MillerFarmington. It is everything we had hoped and planned for and a thrilled to share it with our clients. If you would like to see pictures of our new space please click here or on the picture to the left.

All lessons and classes are continuing as usual for Eric, but Sara is currently on maternity leave until the New Year. Check out the “Lessons & Classes” section of this issue for a list of upcoming events. The topic of this issue is the often confusing and complicated aspect of finding a good chair and how to sit comfortably. We also have added some interesting links in our “Resources” section that you will find helpful.

We hope you enjoy this newsletter and have a wonderful month!

Gratefully,

Eric and Sara Miller

Sitting Secrets

How to Tell the Difference Between

a Good Chair and a Bad Chair

Sitting. We do it a lot and it is often the cause of much of our fatigue, pain and tension. As Alexander Technique teachers we are often asked about what chairs are best for minimizing fatigue and maximizing energy. Sadly, there is no one perfect chair. Keep in mind there are two factors involved in sitting. The chair and you.

In this 2 part segment of "A.T. at Home", we will be discussing the 2 factors of sitting well. Part 1 will explain the elements that make up a good chair and those that make up a bad chair.  We will also share with you how to make simple modifications to any chair so that it supports you better. Part 2 will explain how the manner in which we are sitting effects how we feel. We will also share tips for improving your awareness and posture as you sit. By applying what you learn in Part 1 and Part 2 you will be on your way to feeling better in any chair you sit in.

Please feel free to follow along with the video and try the "Alexander Technique at Home".
